There are several different rivers running through the Champsaur and Valgaudemar valleys. Float down gentle rapids or enjoy an unforgettable white water thrill!
On the Drac and the Séveraisse you can try: rafting, hot dog, hair boat, hydrospeed, canoe and kayak!
All these activities are run by fully qualified professionals so you can relax and enjoy the water in safety.

River Surfing

River Surfing or Hydrospeed

Put on your wet suit, buoyancy aid, helmet and flippers and jump aboard your adapted surf board (hydrospeed) and surf your way down the rapids. It is an impressive experience but not actually that technical so anyone can do it – as long as you can swim. However, the age limit is 12 due to the power of the water.

Kayak and hair boat

Kayak:

A kayak is small and light weight and demands an element of skill to be able to paddle white water. Before going on to moving water in a kayak you need to do a basic skills course. Once you have mastered the basics, there isn’t a much better way to explore the rivers and play on the rapids.

Hair boat:
This is a one person inflatable canoe. It is more stable than a kayak, it can’t sink and it is very quick!

Hot dog

This is a two person inflatable canoe. Again very stable, unsinkable, light and durable! A great way to get down the rapids but (be careful!) you will need to be coordinated between you to ensure a good descent!

Raft

A raft is a large inflatable dingy type boat suitable for 4 – 8 people and there is always a guide on board. He or she will explain the basic technique and try to coordinate you into a team to manoeuvre the raft down the rapids. Anyone over 7 can have a go at rafting as long as you can swim.

Canyoning

Walk, jump, slide, abseil and swim … Canyoning allows you to explore the hidden canyons and gorges of the mountains that no-one else disturbs. A real adventure in a beautiful environment.

Discover the world of water and rock; the waterfalls, shoots and pools of water. Canyoning is accessible to everyone over 11 who can swim. Organised and run by qualified professionals who will teach you the basic caving and climbing techniques you will need to get down the canyons.
